Before you browse this Internet 1.1 exclusive site, here's an explanation on what a device's "Doomsday" is.
A device doomsday is NOT the year a device stops getting updates; A device doomsday is the estimated year a device will be left behind by a stunning majority of apps and services. Here's an example of this:
Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo, Introduced 08/2015, Its Doomsday? Early 2025. This goes for EVERY (Canadian) S5 Neo, including ones made in 2016, and if there were any made in 2017. A doomsday for an android phone is usually exactly 10 years after its introduction, but it is usually the year its 10th will happen. here are some more estimates:
- Galaxy S3: 2012-2021
- Galaxy S9: 2018-2028
- Galaxy S6: 2015-2025
This usually leaves them with one year to get the latest version of most apps, we call it the "Prep year", or something of the sort. Example: the S6's Prep Year was 2024.
What we can't yet calculate is the estimated DDs of Apple devices.
NOTICE: This Subsite is NOT meant to be in tune with the dating of the rest of the Internet 1.1!
NOTE: Some regional versions of devices may get different update cycles. for example, every S5 neo that isn't SM-G903W (the Canadian model) only got up to android 6.0.1, meaning their DD was in 2024, matching the rest of the S5 family.
